This calculator will determine the probability of experiencing exactly
x successes out of
y trials, where the probability of a success is
p (Binomial Distribution). It will also
calculate and show you the probability of experiencing
x or fewer successes out of
y trials (Cumulative Distribution). You can express the value of
p using one of the following
formats:
- A decimal between 0 and 1 (such as 0.01, 0.25, or 0.0000015390772)
- A percent between 0% and 100% (such as 1%, 25%, or 0.00015390772%)
- A fraction whose decimal value falls between 0 and 1 (such as 1/100, 1/25, or 4/2598960)
If
p is expressed as a fraction, the denominator cannot be zero.
| Example | Value for x | Value for y | Value for p |
| Determine the probability of not getting a Royal Flush in 40,000 perfectly-played hands of 9/6 Jacks or Better | 0 | 40000 | 493512264/19933230517200 |
| Determine the probability of landing on Tails 20 times out of 40 coin tosses | 20 | 40 | 50% |
| Determine the probability of landing on Black 50 times out of 100 spins of an American Roulette wheel | 50 | 100 | 18/38 |
